An independent software studio
Baltano is a one-person software studio based in Poland. We build desktop and web
applications — and we are now bringing that work to online stores on WooCommerce and Shoper.
Where we are heading
Our first product for the WooCommerce ecosystem is Merchlint, published in the
WordPress plugin directory in September 2026 and free to install. It addresses
a narrow problem: stores accumulate bad data. Products without images, prices that never got
updated, variations nobody can buy, categories that lead nowhere. None of it breaks the store
outright, so none of it gets noticed — it just quietly costs the owner orders.
Merchlint finds those problems and reports them. It does not silently repair anything. Every
change to a live store stays a decision made by the person who owns it.
The second is Merchgain, a profit and margin report. WooCommerce tells a shop
owner what they sold; since version 10.3 it also stores what each item cost, but it still does not
say what was earned. Merchgain reads that native cost field and answers the question the sales
report cannot. It is now in the plugin directory as well, and free to install.
Since October 2026 Merchlint also works on Shoper, the Polish store platform, as an app in the
Shoper App Store. The Duplicate SKU and GTIN Finder, a small free plugin, takes three of
Merchlint’s checks and runs them on their own. All of them read and report, and none of them
writes to your store.
How we build
- Read-only by default. A tool that inspects a system has no business
writing to it. Bulk auto-fixes are how plugins destroy catalogues.
- No invented findings. A report that cries wolf is worse than no report.
We would rather miss an edge case than flag a healthy product as broken.
- A missing number is not a zero. Where data is absent we say so, rather
than substituting a value that makes the report look complete.
- It has to survive a real catalogue. Everything we ship is tested against
stores with tens of thousands of products, not against a demo shop with twelve.
- Plain about limits. Our reports say what was scanned, what was skipped,
and why.
